Safety Performance Management (Safety PM) is part of the overall Transportation Performance Management (TPM) program, which FHWA defines as a strategic approach that uses system information to make investment and policy decision to achieve national performance goals. The Safety PM Final Rule supports the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), as it establishes safety performance measure requirements for the purpose of carrying out the HSIP and to assess fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads.

This report develops a collection of transportation agency data management practices and experiences. The report demonstrates how agencies currently access, manage, use, and share data.

TRB's E-Circular 226: Transportation System Resilience: Preparation, Recovery, and Adaptation explores research issues related to implementing transportation systems resilience, and explores themes of a whole system approach to resilience, weather and advances in forecasting, an integrated approach to cyber-physical security for transportation, a European perspective on research for resilient road infrastructure, training and recruiting qualified employees who can assist during adverse events, and improving the resilience of transit systems threatened by natural disasters.

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2646 consists of 10 papers that explore freight data and asset management.

This report provides approaches to managing park-and-ride facilities, from developing the park-and-ride concept for a community to day-to-day management. Key themes include design, implementation, operations, and maintenance of these facilities.

The Infrastructure Carbon Estimator Version 2.1 is a spreadsheet tool that estimates the lifecycle energy and greenhouse gas emissions from the construction and maintenance of transportation facilities based on national emissions and energy use factors for materials and construction. Version 2.1 of the tool was developed through FHWA Transportation Pooled Fund TPF-5(362), led by the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Transit agencies are interested in assessing the short-, mid-, and long-term performance of their infrastructure with the objective of enhancing resiliency and efficiency. This report addresses three distinct aspects of New Jersey’s Transit System: 1) resiliency of bridge infrastructure, 2) resiliency of public transit systems, and 3) efficiency of transit systems with an emphasis on paratransit service. This project proposed a conceptual framework to assess the performance and resiliency for bridge structures in a transit network before and after disasters utilizing structural health monitoring (SHM), finite element (FE) modeling and remote sensing using Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR). The public transit systems in NY/NJ were analyzed based on their vulnerability, resiliency, and efficiency in recovery following a major natural disaster.
