New Zealand Asset Management Support (NAMS) has led the development of asset management best practice withing New Zealand since 1995. NAMS is a non-profit industry organisation that provides a hub through which industry professionals can both gain and distribute information on the latest developments in asset management.

Paying for capital transportation projects is a major challenge for many state agencies, made more complex by the passage of Dodd-Frank and the COVID-19 pandemic. This report guides practitioners through the process of debt-financing. It clearly describes the federal regulations, economics, federal institutions, and program needs that govern debt issuance and management, and it goes into great detail for each phase of the debt-financing process. The four phases are the decision process, individual transaction preparation & development, marketing & placement of individual transactions, and post-issuance compliance strategy. Three key challenges are also addressed in the guidebook: accessing complete information, planning for economic uncertainty, and adapting to technological advances.

This research will culminate in a TPM target setting guidebook for state DOTs. The guide will cover methods for target setting, both qualitative and quantitative data sources, and how to adjust targets for different challenges. This NCHRP Project is not scheduled for completion until September 2022.

Volume 1 of this report provides guidance in AASHTO-standard format for the application of roadway lighting and identifies gaps in guidance, where further research may need to be established.

Publication of the project final report and related deliverables is anticipated in Spring 2022.

The NDOT 2022 TAMP describes current asset management practices to increase transparency. This TAMP highlights one of the agency’s eight strategic goals: "Asset Management – To operate, maintain, upgrade and expand physical assets effectively throughout their life cycle" and describes many of the detailed processes that support and guide decisions for project development and delivery.

North Carolina DOT (NCDOT) produced an interim TAMP in 2018 as part of the process to develop the final plan that is due on June 30, 2019. As an interim plan, parts of the document are left for completion in the final 2019 submission. The 2018 TAMP provides a description of the processes NCDOT will use to finalize analysis for Chapter 4 – Life‐cycle Cost Planning, Chapter 5 – Risk Management Analysis, and Chapter 6 – Financial Plan. Chapter 8 Process Improvements will be included as part of the 2019 final TAMP submission.
